A revisit of the brilliant colour workshop last ye A revisit of the brilliant colour workshop last year held in Kings Road @argileuk in collaboration with @westonebathrooms where I pulled together striking schemes of multi-surface finishes including marble, stone, metal, ceramic, paint, marbling @natmaks and a selection of gorgeous tiles at Reed Harris. Guests loved the variations and play of colour across the finishes for achieving different looks. We spoke about the layering process, how to make a bathroom pop with colour and the relevance of material finishes for aesthetic preferences. Bathrooms that function as a room, and not just a bathroom, are places where you want to spend time and unwind. Perhaps with free-standing furniture, artwork and textiles that feel decadent for the room. It's where you pamper your mind, body and soul. But how will that 'pampering' look for you, or your client? 'If we can embrace when things start to be a diffe 'If we can embrace when things start to be a different version of themselves, we can look beyond what they were before and appreciate them in their new state, just because something has changed, its state. It doesn't mean it is less of an offering. It's a different offering. It's a new one.' I had such a great experience making this short film about my home, Lantern Cottage, with @nostalgia.corporation. An aesthetic made from layers of time-loved patina and carefully painted surfaces, frayed fabrics and preserved hand-made linens, creaking shabby floor boards and smooth marble, slanted ceilings and neat curtains, beautiful dinks and bumps and imperfections, worn rugs and fluffy crafted sheepskins. Creative ideas become solutions. Materials found digging around in the garden become useful features and then there's the fun of inventing settings from items used in different ways. On the odd occasion, broken items get mended then admired, their use now irrelevant. I can't imagine Lantern Cottage without these juxtapositions. At nearly 300 years old, it is not the new it once was. And I wouldn't want it new either. With each challenge and limitation there has been an opportunity to make something beautiful from that - to push in search of a solution, followed by the reward of satisfaction. A year on, I am now teaching the theory from my London home (featured in this month's edition of The English Home Magazine) for designers to visit, learn and experiment from. This is a workshop that delves into the intricate and delicate relationship between colour, light, and form, aimed at those who want to take their skills in colour-work to the next level for multi-surface finishes. I’m absolutely thrilled to announce a special so I’m absolutely thrilled to announce a special something that has been in the making since the spring. A short film about me and my home has been released by the exceptional independent film company @nostalgia.corporation - a duo specialising in capturing the relationship between people and the soulful homes they occupy. I am honoured to be included in the series. What began as an initial meeting in my garden, grew into an adventure that surpassed our expectations with filming in both the UK and in Liguria, Italy. Now out, the film in 2 days has reached over 35k views. I invited both Lena and Ilya into my private world to see and hear what feeds my soul. There’s no script, no choreography, just an honest account translated through the eyes and vision of their passion for nostalgia. Throughout the making, and the lengthy edit resulting in the utterly enchanting, visual mastery by Ilya and Lena, we collectively poured our hearts into this. The timing of the film is serendipitous, after the recent feature of my home @englishhomemag . Here, nestled in a magical stretch between Portofino and Sestre Levante, is my Italian homeland, where I learnt the architectural trompe l’œil hallmarks of the region that subsequently began the journey of the Delysian Colour System. You'll have noticed the change of colours in natur You'll have noticed the change of colours in nature around us, as the seasons change. Which ones suprise you? Autumn is typically associated with darker hues that lean into rich reds, ochre, deep greens, and earthy browns. We are comforted by their warmth, their resonance with maturity of ripened crops and sun-aged time - aubergines, berries, pumpkins, and deciduous trees, leaves and conkers. There is a sense of crispness, plumpness and a desire to taste and touch. I think as humans we crave for colours that tickle our senses and feed our soul. But if you look closely, you will also see extraordinarily vibrant pinks, strong yellows and punchy oranges; along with moody purples of the sky, turbulent blues of the seas and fading beiges of havested fields. These colours I have selected pay homage to the lesser celebrated colours of autumn and that beautifully compliment the more traditional ones. Which would you combine? Beginning to see the fruits of labour from 2023 co Beginning to see the fruits of labour from 2023 come together. It’s been a while since my client in Thailand has been in touch, but today I have received photos of progress. Now moved in, the rest of this self-build project will complete by January, I hope. It’s been a difficult build with lack of available labour, delays in materials but perseverance has kept it ticking over. This was a challenging but exciting consultancy for me with a property developer with dreams of rolling out a series of developments in Thailand for rental purposes. What began as a patch of land, has now become his home. Every little detail was considered, with full colour considerations from the floors, tiles paints and even grout, to complementary furnishings, fabrics and linen and stone. Even the swimming pool required my approval. The concept was to integrate the colours of the natural surroundings with a bit of added oomph. Smudgy yellows, ochre and sludgy greens with paler browns and clays in the living room and cooler grey-blue in the office. And I’m very happy with it all because he says “LOVE the colours btw” There are far too many photos and plans to include but here is a little glimpse of his first project under my eye. I am promised professional photographs when complete so until then we make do with the iPhone which (as I keep saying to my clients) does not capture a true image of colour unless edited! Freckle, what a gorgeous new colour from @earthbor Freckle, what a gorgeous new colour from @earthbornpaints for 2026. Somewhere between an orange and brown hue with mid-tone depth. Totally one for me! For those that appreciate seasonal palettes, this is a great one to introduce to your scheme. For those that are looking for a warm colour that works beautifully with crisper whites or chocolatey browns and earthy greens then this too would make a lovely colour combination.
