Plenty decisions made today over a 4 hour consultancy and an opportunity to revisit a couple of previous ideas, now that the project has changed a little. I think one of the most rewarding comments I often hear is when a client says “I would never have thought of using that colour”, and knowing that once they envisage the finished room they actually see the future of how they function in that space. When I became the custodian of Lantern Cottage — a When I became the custodian of Lantern Cottage — a dilapidated Grade II Georgian building — I thought I’d be making renovation decisions just about it. Instead, it taught me to listen, see and understand more about me. Restoring a space slowly, room by room, you notice how light arrives in the morning and leaves in the evening, where the building wants to be busy, or quiet, and maybe you learn that's where you also want to. You start having a conversation with it and the way you want to live, because you don't simply live in a home, you live with it. Stripping back Lantern Cottage was really hard work, but it revealed what needed repair or improvement, and hiddden surprises. Lovingly restoring it has been a cathartic process and there's always more to do here and there, but I believe in the synergy between ourselves and our homes and the evolution being as much about us as the building. That’s the shift I try to pass on to everyone I train: a room will tell you what it needs, but you need to know what you need from you first. #PeriodProperty #HeritageRestoration #InteriorDesign #ColourInDesign #ColourConsultant

Still-life table-scapes bring me so much joy to cr Still-life table-scapes bring me so much joy to create and to continue appreciating for their story. Swapping around the slim bookcase for my chest of drawers allowed the bathroom to double up as a dressing area, and, for an even larger surface to finally make a shell cloche display - something I’ve been wanting to do for ages with antique domes I have held onto for years. With extra space for candles and my delicate ‘pools-of-water’ vessels by @julie_osullivan_ceramics , the bathroom has become a little museum, a room good enough to just sit in. #bathroominspiration #tablescapestyling #shelldecor #stylistlife #mutedandmoody
