Colour Perspective - a session that trains the eye Colour Perspective - a session that trains the eye to see how colour behaves under the influence of light when paired with form. Rooted in this theory, the teaching of the Delysian Colour System, looks at different ways of understanding this relationship, from real-life examples in an immersive setting, to the physical use of lenses and colour cards, to the creating of colour schemes that begin with the obvious and evolve into something so much more. Experimentation, questioning, theorising and playing are all essential learning tools that leave a lasting memory of where the beginning starts and the huge leap to where the result ends. I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again - I am fore I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again - I am forever impressed with how attendees translate their visions into colour, and then into a scheme. Each one a masterpiece of their narrative. It’s always a pinch me moment when it all comes together at the end. Tomorrow, we dive into colour and get to understand how it behaves as a moving element when combined with form and light and I’ll be demonstrating how they can bring their own artistic approach to the Delysian Colour System. A slide deck can tell students about colour. A day A slide deck can tell students about colour. A day spent in it teaches something a deck never could. When people work with real light, real materials, real space... something shifts. They slow down, they look more carefully and they remember it in their hands as much as their heads. I’ve been a little quiet on here lately, and here’ I’ve been a little quiet on here lately, and here’s a brief glimpse why…. The upstairs has been reinstated with the original panelling and the bedroom has become a snug - a place for a proper tv at last and one with a view! The Samsung Frame artwork collection means I can switch the art to suit mood and season and I’m loving it. The studio has had another upgrade with additional and improved work stations and materials. Also a study area for natural curio which will become part of a workshop on the nature of colour and chroma, and a close-up area on the art of shadow colours and colour in 3D as part of teaching the theory of the Delysian Colour System. It’s been a challenge working through the heatwave but cool evening walks have rewarded me with glorious sunset skies, as have social events with friends both new and old including @furnishingfutures , @tamu.thomas and a splendid Sunday in Gloucestershire celebrating my oldest friend’s birthday @tania_.fullerton_artist whom I’ve known for 50 years ❤️. A fantastic July so far and so much more yet to come….. Counting down the days for this weekend’s workshop which I’m looking forward to sharing with guests including those from Australia, The Netherlands. 2 spaces left for anyone interested.
