My client wanted to create a multi-purpose family space that adjoined a kitchen which leads to a cosy, colourful living room. The key to the success of this scheme was in choosing colours that offered balance and juxtaposition and here's how: - maximise visual contrast with impact to fill the space - simplify the room by limiting the palette to three colours - direct focus of attention on architecture and materiality A tint speaks to the shaded parts of the room and the deep cabinet colours, whereas the flooring is a warm mid-shade that bridges the contrast between the walls and cabinets..
